After serving as the director of ODeL for seven years, Professor Gordon Nguka has handed over leadership to Dr. Jairus Odawa. The handing-over ceremony, which was overseen by Prof. Moses Poipoi took place on 20th May 2024 at SPD 314.
Prof Poipoi congratulated the outgoing Director of ODeL and encouraged the incoming director to continue from where his predecessor has left to achieve the mission and vision of MMUST.‘’MMUST confided in Prof Nguka which is an indicator that they had confidence in him and therefore I encourage Dr. Odawa to continue with what has been put in place. We are here to achieve the mission and vision of MMUST,’’ stated Prof. Poipoi.
Speaking during the handover, Prof. Nguka congratulated Dr. Odawa for being appointed as his successor and promised to continue working with him closely for the improvement of online learning. ‘’I am extremely happy to hand over this office of the director ODeL to Dr. Odawa. I congratulate you for this appointment and promise to continue working with you to ensure that MMUST online learning moves a notch higher,’’ said Prof. Nguka.
As he received the leadership files, Dr. Odawa appreciated each staff member for making the handing-over process a success. He stressed the need to embrace online teaching and learning saying, it is the future of our generation. ‘’ Since the COVID-19 pandemic, companies have been forced to enable people to work from where they are. Therefore we should embrace online teaching and learning because this is the future of our generation,’’ said Dr. Odawa.
